Kitchen Faucets
The best kitchen faucets for workstation sinks
A workstation sink is a sink with a shelf in it. That shelf is exactly where a short spout stops being useful, so reach is the specification that decides this.

How we assessed these: we compared published manufacturer specifications for the named model numbers, read from each maker's own product page or specification sheet and linked at every figure. We have not installed or tested these faucets and we do not own them. Where a maker does not publish a figure — body material, battery life, warranty term — this page says so instead of estimating one.
Short answer
The Moen Method 7585C is the faucet to put over a workstation sink: Moen publishes 10.20 inches of spout reach, the longest of any faucet in this registry, plus a 68-inch hose. On a ledge sink the accessories occupy the middle of the bowl, so reach past them — not arc height — is the specification that decides whether the faucet is usable.
A workstation sink carries a machined ledge an inch or so below the rim, and a cutting board, colander or drying rack slides along it. That is the whole value of the configuration — are workstation sinks worth it argues the case — but it changes the geometry a faucet has to work in. Without the board, water lands wherever the spout points. With the board in place, half the basin is roofed over, and the only water you can use is whatever the spout can deliver in front of or behind it.

Reach is the number, and most buyers look at the wrong one
Spout height is the figure every listing leads with, because a tall arc photographs well. On a workstation sink it is the secondary measurement. Height buys you clearance to fill a stock pot; reach decides where the stream lands front to back. A 30-inch workstation sink such as the Kraus Kore KWU110-30 has a bowl 16 inches front to back and a rear-offset drain, which means the water needs to arrive at the back of the basin, not over the rim.
Put a board on the ledge and the problem gets sharper. The board sits across the bowl, so a faucet with 8 inches of reach is delivering water onto the board rather than past it. That is fine when you are rinsing vegetables on the board on purpose, and a nuisance every other time. Spout height and reach is the full explanation of the two measurements and how makers measure them.
| Model | Spout reach | Spout height | Hose length | Flow rate |
|---|---|---|---|---|

Figures are each manufacturer's own published specifications, linked in the sources below. Where a maker does not publish a hose length or a spout height for the model, this table says so rather than estimating. Makers do not all measure reach from the same datum, so treat the ranking as indicative within a quarter-inch.

1. Best overall
Moen Method 7585C
Moen · Best for wide double bowls and long reach
The longest reach of any faucet in this registry at 10.2 inches, on a pull-out body with a 68-inch hose. That combination is specifically what a wide double-bowl sink needs: enough reach to serve the far bowl from a centered faucet hole, and enough hose to take the water anywhere else.
Published specifications
What works
- 10.2 inches of reach is the longest here, and reach is the measurement that decides double-bowl usability
- A 68-inch hose is nine inches longer than the Sombra's, which matters for filling things on the floor
- Duralock quick connect makes the supply connection a push-fit rather than a wrench job
- 1.5 gpm with a two-function head — no third mode nobody uses
What does not
- A 9.04-inch spout is mid-height; very tall pots still need filling at an angle
- Moen does not publish a warranty term on this product page, so we do not state one
- Chrome shows water spotting more than the spot-resist finishes do
Skip it if
Skip it if your sink is a single bowl under 30 inches — you are paying for reach that will overshoot the drain.

2. Best for clearing the ledge
Kohler Simplice K-596
Kohler · Best for wide bowls and long reach
The value pick with the longest reach of the three mainstream pull-downs, and the only one whose third spray function is genuinely useful rather than a novelty: Boost raises flow by 30% while you hold it, then drops back to 1.5 gpm. If your sink is wide, this is the one that reaches.
Published specifications
What works
- 9" reach, matching the longest in this roundup
- Boost is a real feature: 30% more flow on demand, then back to 1.5 gpm
- Sweep spray is a blade rather than a cone, which is better at pushing debris toward a drain
- Kohler publishes a full dimensional spec sheet, which makes hole and cabinet planning easy
What does not
- A three-function head has more moving parts than a two-function one, which is more to go wrong
- The gooseneck shape sets the handle further back than some people like on a shallow deck
- No published independent test data on this model, from anyone
Skip it if
Skip it if you want the simplest possible faucet — a two-function wand is one less thing to break.

3. Best clearance over accessories
Moen Arbor 7594
Moen · Best for deep pots and hard-water kitchens
The pull-down to buy if you want the taller arc and a finish that hides water spots. Its 8-1/4" spout height is about half an inch more clearance than the Leland, which is the difference between washing a stock pot and fighting one. The tradeoff is reach: 7-7/8" against 9-3/16", so it works closer to the back of the bowl.
Published specifications
What works
- The 8-1/4" spout height is genuine pot clearance, not decorative arc
- Power Boost concentrates the stream for filling and rinsing without raising the rated flow
- Spot Resist Stainless is the single most useful finish choice in a hard-water house
- Reflex docking has been in Moen's line long enough that replacement wands are easy to find
What does not
- Reach is 7-7/8", over an inch shorter than the Leland — on a wide double bowl you will notice
- Moen publishes no independent noise or durability measurement, and neither do we
- The spot-resist coating is a finish, not armor; abrasive cleaners still dull it
Skip it if
Skip it if you have a wide double-bowl sink and want one faucet to reach both drains comfortably — buy reach instead of height.

4. Best all-rounder
Delta Leland 9178-AR-DST
Delta · Best for most kitchens, one or three holes
The pull-down we would fit in most kitchens, because the two parts that usually fail first on a pull-down are the two Delta engineered around: the docking mechanism and the valve. MagnaTite pulls the wand back into the spout with a magnet instead of relying on a friction collar, and Diamond Seal keeps water off the valve. It ships with a deck plate, so it covers a three-hole sink or mounts through one.
Published specifications
- Flow rate
- 1.8 gpm source
- Spout height
- 7-7/8" deck to outlet source
- Spout reach
- 9-3/16" source
- Overall height
- 14-7/8" source
- Mounting
- Single hole; deck plate included for three-hole sinks source
- Supply lines
- Integrated InnoFlex PEX, pre-attached at the valve source
- Connection
- 3/8" compression source
- Warranty
- Delta limited lifetime source
- Lead compliance
- Meets NSF/ANSI 61 source
What works
- MagnaTite docking is a magnet, not a friction fit — a wand that stops seating is the most common pull-down complaint, and a magnet does not wear the way a plastic collar does
- Spout reach of 9-3/16" clears the far side of a standard 22-inch front-to-back sink
- Diamond Seal keeps water off the valve, which is what the lifetime warranty is really protecting
- Deck plate in the box, so a three-hole sink needs no extra part
What does not
- 1.8 gpm is higher than the 1.5 gpm most competitors now ship, which matters if your area caps flow rate
- Zinc body rather than brass — normal at this price, but this is not a forever faucet
- No independent lab publishes durability figures for this model, so we cannot tell you how the finish looks at year five
Skip it if
Skip it if your sink is a shallow bar sink: at 14-7/8" overall the arc will splash in a basin under about seven inches deep.

Pull-out beats pull-down on a ledge sink
This is the one place the usual advice inverts. A pull-down wand drops vertically into the bowl, and on a workstation sink the board is in the way of exactly that movement. A pull-out wand comes forward and down, so it clears the ledge and the board, and a long hose lets you take the water to the far corner of the basin or out of the sink entirely. The Method's 68-inch hose is nine inches longer than the Moen Sombra's 59 inches, which is the difference between rinsing something in the sink and filling a bucket on the floor.
That is not an argument against pull-downs here — the Arbor and the Leland are both on this page because a tall pull-down is the better tool when the board is off the ledge and you are washing a roasting pan. It is an argument for checking which way the wand travels before you commit. Pull-down vs pull-out sets out the mechanical difference.
Spray pattern matters more than usual
A ledge sink traps debris against the board edge and in the ledge channel itself, and a cone spray pushes it around rather than off. Kohler's Sweep spray on the Simplice is a blade of water rather than a cone, which is better at moving peelings toward a drain — and the Simplice's Boost function raises flow by 30% while you hold it, then drops back to 1.5 gpm, which is the quickest way to clear a ledge after prep.
What a third hole does for you here
Workstation sinks are usually undermounted, so the faucet holes are drilled in the countertop rather than in the sink deck. If your counter is already drilled for three, the Delta Leland ships with a deck plate to cover them and mounts through one; the Moen Sombra 87701SRS mounts in one to four holes and includes a matching soap dispenser for a spare. Faucet hole configurations covers the drillings and what fits what.
If the counter is not drilled yet and the sink is going into stone, read the best kitchen faucets for granite countertops before the fabricator cuts, because the hole position is permanent and the reach you need depends on where it goes.
Which one to buy
- Buy the Moen Method 7585C if you use the ledge accessories daily. 10.20 inches of reach and a 68-inch hose is the combination that works around a board rather than onto it.
- Buy the Kohler Simplice K-596 if your sink is wide and you want the Sweep blade spray and Boost for clearing the ledge channel after prep.
- Buy the Moen Arbor 7594 if the board spends most of its life off the sink and you fill tall pots — 8-1/4 inches of spout height is real clearance.
- Buy the Delta Leland 9178-AR-DST if your counter is drilled for three holes and you want one faucet that covers that and still reaches 9-3/16 inches.
What to take away
- On a ledge sink, published spout reach decides usability more than arc height does.
- A pull-out wand clears a board on the ledge; a pull-down wand drops straight into it.
- Hose length is the under-read specification — 68 inches versus 59 is a real difference.
- A blade spray clears the ledge channel better than a cone does.
- Measure your tallest ledge accessory before buying a low-arc faucet.
- Nobody publishes a comparable durability figure for any of these faucets, so this is a specification comparison, not a test result.

Common questions
- What kind of faucet is best for a workstation sink?
- A long-reach pull-out. The ledge accessories occupy the middle of the bowl, so you need a spout that delivers water past them and a hose that lets you take the wand around them. The Moen Method 7585C publishes 10.20 inches of reach and a 68-inch hose, which is the longest pairing in this registry.
- Do I need a taller faucet for a workstation sink?
- Not usually. Workstation sinks are deep — the Kraus Kore KWU110-30 is 10 inches — so the bowl gives you most of the clearance a tall arc would. What the ledge takes away is horizontal access, which is reach, not height.
- Will a low-arc faucet work with a workstation sink?
- Only if nothing tall lives on the ledge. A drying rack or a standing colander will foul a 5.56-inch spout such as the Moen Renzo's. Measure the tallest accessory you plan to leave in place and compare it with the published spout height.
- Does a workstation sink need a special faucet hole drilling?
- No. Workstation sinks are normally undermounted, so the holes go in the countertop and the standard single-hole or three-hole drillings apply. If the counter is already drilled for three, choose a faucet that ships with a deck plate.
