Privacy policy

This policy explains what Spout & Sink collects when you visit, what happens to it, and who else is involved. It covers this website only.

• We collect no account information, because there are no accounts.
• We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are read. That involves cookies set by Google.
• If you submit the contact form, we receive the name, email address and message you type, by email.
• If you click a buy link, the retailer knows you arrived from us. What happens after that is governed by their policy.
• We do not sell data, and we have nothing to sell — there is no customer database here.

We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages people read, how they arrived, and roughly where in the world they are. This is aggregate reporting: it tells us that a page about disposal horsepower is read more than one about bridge faucets, which is how we decide what to write next.

Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and processes data on Google's infrastructure under Google's own privacy terms. We also record an event when a buy link is clicked, so we can see which recommendations people find useful. That event records the product and the page, not anything about you personally.

If you would rather not be counted, browser-level tracking protection, an ad blocker or Google's own opt-out browser add-on all prevent it, and the site works exactly the same either way. Nothing on this site is gated behind analytics consent.

When you use the form on the contact page, the name, email address and message you enter are sent to us by email and arrive at contact@spoutandsink.com. We keep them in that mailbox for as long as needed to deal with your message and to keep a record of corrections. They are not added to a mailing list, because there is no mailing list.

The form includes basic automated-submission checks: a hidden field that only a bot would fill in, a timestamp that detects submissions made faster than a human could type, and a per-address submission limit. None of these collects anything about you beyond the submission itself and the IP address the request came from, which is used only to apply that limit.

Buy links on this site pass through a redirect on our own domain and then to Amazon with our Associates tag attached. Amazon can therefore see that you arrived from this site, and Amazon sets its own cookies. Their handling of that is governed by Amazon's privacy notice, not by this one.

We receive aggregate reporting from Amazon about clicks and qualifying purchases. It does not identify individuals to us, and we could not match it to a visitor if we wanted to. The commercial arrangement is explained on affiliate disclosure.

The site is hosted on a commercial hosting platform, which keeps standard server logs including IP addresses and request details for operational and security purposes. That is ordinary infrastructure logging rather than something we use for analysis.

• We do not sell or rent personal data.
• We do not run display advertising or ad-network tracking pixels.
• We do not operate accounts, logins or user profiles.
• We do not send marketing email — there is no newsletter.
• We do not attempt to identify individual visitors.

This site is written for adults buying and maintaining kitchen fixtures, and it is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

You can browse with tracking protection enabled, block cookies, or use Google's opt-out tools — none of that affects the site's function. If you have contacted us and would like your message deleted from our mailbox, email contact@spoutandsink.com and we will remove it.

If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect, the date at the top of the page changes with it. We are not going to re-date it for a wording tidy-up.
