Kitchen Faucets

The best kitchen faucets for granite countertops

Granite does not care what the faucet looks like. It cares how thick the deck is, how the faucet clamps to it, and whether you can reach the nut underneath.

Disclosure: we earn a commission if you buy through the Amazon links on this page, at no extra cost to you. Commission never decides a verdict or a ranking position — read our editorial policy and affiliate disclosure.

How we assessed these: we compared published manufacturer specifications for the named model numbers, read from each maker's own product page or specification sheet and linked at every figure. We have not installed or tested these faucets and we do not own them. Where a maker does not publish a figure — body material, battery life, warranty term — this page says so instead of estimating one.

Short answer

The Delta Leland 9178-AR-DST is the faucet we would fit on a granite counter: its InnoFlex supply lines come pre-attached at the valve, so there are no threaded joints to make in the dark behind a stone deck, and the included deck plate covers an existing three-hole drilling while the faucet mounts through one.

Everything that makes a faucet install awkward gets worse on stone. A granite deck is typically far thicker than the sink deck a faucet was designed around, the hole is already cut and cannot be moved, and the mounting nut has to be reached through a cabinet with a sink above it. None of that is about the faucet's looks, and all of it is on the spec sheet if you know which lines to read.

The three specifications that actually matter on stone

Hole count and hole size. The Delta Leland lists a single 1-3/8 inch hole with a deck plate in the box for a three-hole counter. The Moen Sombra 87701SRS mounts in one to four holes. The Moen Chateau 7434 needs three, and no deck plate invents a hole that was never cut. If the stone is already drilled, the drilling is the constraint, full stop.

How the supply connection is made. This is the specification nobody reads and everybody regrets. The Leland's lines are integrated PEX, pre-attached at the valve, with 3/8-inch compression fittings at the stops. Moen's Duralock is a push-fit quick connect. Both mean the connection you make under a stone deck is at the shutoff valve, where you can see it, rather than up against the underside of the counter where you cannot.

Whether a basin wrench will reach. A deep stone deck plus an undermount sink leaves very little room for a wrench on the mounting nut. Faucets that clamp with a top-accessible screw or a wide mounting plate are easier here than those needing a nut spun onto a threaded shank from below. What tools you need to install a kitchen faucet covers the basin wrench and the alternatives.

1. Best overall

Delta Leland 9178-AR-DST

Delta · Best for most kitchens, one or three holes

The pull-down we would fit in most kitchens, because the two parts that usually fail first on a pull-down are the two Delta engineered around: the docking mechanism and the valve. MagnaTite pulls the wand back into the spout with a magnet instead of relying on a friction collar, and Diamond Seal keeps water off the valve. It ships with a deck plate, so it covers a three-hole sink or mounts through one.

What works

  • MagnaTite docking is a magnet, not a friction fit — a wand that stops seating is the most common pull-down complaint, and a magnet does not wear the way a plastic collar does
  • Spout reach of 9-3/16" clears the far side of a standard 22-inch front-to-back sink
  • Diamond Seal keeps water off the valve, which is what the lifetime warranty is really protecting
  • Deck plate in the box, so a three-hole sink needs no extra part

What does not

  • 1.8 gpm is higher than the 1.5 gpm most competitors now ship, which matters if your area caps flow rate
  • Zinc body rather than brass — normal at this price, but this is not a forever faucet
  • No independent lab publishes durability figures for this model, so we cannot tell you how the finish looks at year five

Skip it if

Skip it if your sink is a shallow bar sink: at 14-7/8" overall the arc will splash in a basin under about seven inches deep.

2. Easiest connection

Moen Arbor 7594

Moen · Best for deep pots and hard-water kitchens

The pull-down to buy if you want the taller arc and a finish that hides water spots. Its 8-1/4" spout height is about half an inch more clearance than the Leland, which is the difference between washing a stock pot and fighting one. The tradeoff is reach: 7-7/8" against 9-3/16", so it works closer to the back of the bowl.

What works

  • The 8-1/4" spout height is genuine pot clearance, not decorative arc
  • Power Boost concentrates the stream for filling and rinsing without raising the rated flow
  • Spot Resist Stainless is the single most useful finish choice in a hard-water house
  • Reflex docking has been in Moen's line long enough that replacement wands are easy to find

What does not

  • Reach is 7-7/8", over an inch shorter than the Leland — on a wide double bowl you will notice
  • Moen publishes no independent noise or durability measurement, and neither do we
  • The spot-resist coating is a finish, not armor; abrasive cleaners still dull it

Skip it if

Skip it if you have a wide double-bowl sink and want one faucet to reach both drains comfortably — buy reach instead of height.

3. Best for a spare hole

Moen Sombra 87701SRS

Moen · Best for pull-out range plus a matching dispenser

The pull-out we would fit, and the one that quietly solves a second problem: it ships with a matching soap dispenser, so a three-hole sink converting to a single-hole faucet has something to put in the spare hole that was designed alongside it. A 59-inch hose and a 9.93-inch spout give it genuine range.

Published specifications

Hose length
59" source
Mounting

Spray
Power Clean — aerated stream and rinse source
Connection

What works

  • A 59-inch hose reaches a bucket on the floor, which is the whole reason to choose pull-out over pull-down
  • The soap dispenser is matched and included rather than an approximate-finish afterthought
  • One-to-four-hole mounting covers essentially every sink drilling
  • Spot Resist Stainless is the finish to have in hard water

What does not

  • 8.45 inches of reach is mid-range — a wide double bowl will want more
  • Moen does not publish a warranty term on this product page, so we do not state one
  • Pull-out wands sit lower, so a tall stock pot is a tighter fit than under a high-arc pull-down

Skip it if

Skip it if your sink is deep and you mostly wash tall cookware — a high-arc pull-down gives you clearance this does not.

4. Best documented

Kohler Simplice K-596

Kohler · Best for wide bowls and long reach

The value pick with the longest reach of the three mainstream pull-downs, and the only one whose third spray function is genuinely useful rather than a novelty: Boost raises flow by 30% while you hold it, then drops back to 1.5 gpm. If your sink is wide, this is the one that reaches.

What works

  • 9" reach, matching the longest in this roundup
  • Boost is a real feature: 30% more flow on demand, then back to 1.5 gpm
  • Sweep spray is a blade rather than a cone, which is better at pushing debris toward a drain
  • Kohler publishes a full dimensional spec sheet, which makes hole and cabinet planning easy

What does not

  • A three-function head has more moving parts than a two-function one, which is more to go wrong
  • The gooseneck shape sets the handle further back than some people like on a shallow deck
  • No published independent test data on this model, from anyone

Drilling granite is a different job from drilling a sink deck

If the hole does not exist yet, this is the decision to get right, because stone does not forgive a second attempt. A new hole in an installed granite top is a diamond core bit, water cooling and a steady hand, and most fabricators will do it as a site visit. The cost of that visit is usually the deciding argument for choosing a faucet that fits the drilling you already have.

If the counter is not fabricated yet, specify the faucet before the template is cut. The fabricator needs the hole count, the hole diameter and the center position, and the center position depends on the spout reach you need over the bowl — which is the same calculation as on a workstation sink. Get the faucet first, then the template.

The spare hole problem

Granite counters cut ten or fifteen years ago were commonly drilled for three or four holes: a faucet, a side spray, sometimes a soap dispenser. Fit a modern single-hole pull-down and you have holes left over, and a deck plate is only one answer. The Moen Sombra 87701SRS ships with a matching soap dispenser designed alongside it, which fills a hole with something you will use rather than covering it with a plate. The Moen Chateau 7434 goes the other way and uses all three, with a genuine side spray — worth knowing if you own a portable dishwasher or a screw-on faucet filter.

A blanking plug is the third option and the least satisfying, because the finish match across brands is approximate. Faucet hole configurations lists the standard drillings and what covers what.

Finish, against a stone that already has a pattern

Granite is busy, and a busy counter is forgiving of a finish that spots. That changes the usual advice slightly: on a plain quartz top, water spotting on chrome is the first thing you see, while on a speckled granite it mostly disappears. If your water is hard the calculation goes back the other way, because scale is pale and granite is often dark. Which finish hides water spots is the detail, and the best kitchen faucets for hard water is the hard-water case.

Which one to buy

  • Buy the Delta Leland 9178-AR-DST for most granite installs: pre-attached supply lines, a single-hole mount and a deck plate for a three-hole top.
  • Buy the Moen Arbor 7594 if the under-sink access is tight — a Duralock push-fit is the easiest connection to make blind.
  • Buy the Moen Sombra 87701SRS if your stone has an extra hole you want filled with something useful.
  • Buy the Kohler Simplice K-596 if the counter is not cut yet and you want a full dimensional sheet to hand the fabricator.

What to take away

  • The existing drilling in the stone is the constraint; choose the faucet around it, not the other way round.
  • Pre-attached or push-fit supply lines are worth more on stone than on any other deck.
  • New holes in installed granite are a diamond core bit and usually a fabricator visit.
  • Never bed a faucet or drain on oil-based plumber's putty over porous stone.
  • A spare hole is better filled with a matched soap dispenser than a blanking plug.
  • Nobody publishes independent durability data for these faucets, so this ranks published specifications only.

Common questions

What kind of kitchen faucet works best with a granite countertop?
One that matches the drilling already in the stone and that connects with pre-attached or push-fit supply lines. The Delta Leland 9178-AR-DST mounts through a single hole, includes a deck plate for a three-hole top, and arrives with its InnoFlex lines already fitted at the valve.
Can you drill a granite countertop for a new faucet?
Yes, with a diamond core bit and water cooling, but it is a one-attempt job on an installed slab and most people have the fabricator do it as a site visit. Where possible, choose a faucet that fits the holes you already have.
Can you use plumber's putty on a granite countertop?
No. Oil in traditional plumber's putty can migrate into porous stone and stain it from within, where it cannot be cleaned off. Use the faucet's own gasket, or a neutral-cure silicone.
How do you cover extra faucet holes in granite?
Three ways: a deck plate that spans them, a matched accessory such as a soap dispenser in the spare hole, or a blanking plug. A deck plate only works if the holes fall within its span, so check the plate dimensions against your hole spacing.
