Kitchen Faucets

Kitchen faucet brands, ranked by whether you can still fix them in ten years

Finish options and spray modes are marketing. Parts availability is what decides whether a faucet is repairable or disposable, so that is how we have ranked them.

Short answer

Moen, Delta and Kohler are the three brands that stock replacement cartridges for models they discontinued years ago, which is what makes a faucet repairable rather than disposable. Kraus is the strongest value brand with genuine published specifications and a narrower parts network. Marketplace-only brands with no manufacturer website should be treated as consumables.

Faucet brand comparisons usually rank on finish choice and spray modes, which tells you nothing about the next ten years. The specification that decides whether you repair a faucet or replace it is whether a cartridge will be available when it drips — and that is a property of the company, not the product.

The tiers, and what separates them

Tier one: long parts channel, lifetime warranty

Moen, Delta and Kohler. All three publish full specification sheets, offer limited lifetime warranties on residential faucets, use replaceable ceramic cartridges, and — the crucial part — stock parts for models that left the catalog years ago. In practice a lifetime warranty on a faucet means the manufacturer sends you a cartridge, which is exactly the claim these three are equipped to honor. Any of them will still be serviceable in a decade.

They are not interchangeable on engineering, and the differences are covered in Moen vs Delta: Delta's magnetic docking and Diamond Seal valve protection against Moen's spot-resist finish and parts depth, with Kohler offering the longest reach in its class and the most thorough published dimensions.

Tier two: real specifications, shorter reach on support

Kraus is the clearest example: it publishes dimensions for every finish variant, which is unusual at its price, and its sinks and faucets are genuinely well specified. What you get less of is the twenty-year parts tail. For a faucet you expect to keep a decade rather than two, that is a reasonable trade, and it buys you a real coil-spring commercial-style faucet or a 16-gauge workstation sink for meaningfully less.

Tier three: treat as consumable

Faucets sold under a marketplace brand name with no manufacturer website, no published spec sheet and no parts catalog. Some are perfectly decent hardware from the same factories as better-known names. The problem is not quality at purchase, it is what happens in year four: no cartridge, no spray head, no hose, and no way to identify the model. Buy these knowing you are buying a faucet you will throw away, and price them accordingly.

What to check before you trust any brand

  1. Does the manufacturer publish a specification sheet with dimensions? If not, you cannot check fit, and they are not expecting you to.
  2. Is there a parts diagram for the model, showing cartridge and spray head as orderable items?
  3. What does the warranty actually cover — the finish as well as the function, or only the mechanism?
  4. Search the model number plus the word cartridge. If nothing comes back, that is your answer.

1. Best parts availability

Moen Arbor 7594

Moen · Best for deep pots and hard-water kitchens

The pull-down to buy if you want the taller arc and a finish that hides water spots. Its 8-1/4" spout height is about half an inch more clearance than the Leland, which is the difference between washing a stock pot and fighting one. The tradeoff is reach: 7-7/8" against 9-3/16", so it works closer to the back of the bowl.

Published specifications

Flow rate
1.5 gpm source
Spout height
8-1/4" counter to outlet source
Spout reach
7-7/8" source
Overall height
15-1/2" source
Mounting
One or three holes source
Docking
Reflex spray-head docking source

What works

  • The 8-1/4" spout height is genuine pot clearance, not decorative arc
  • Power Boost concentrates the stream for filling and rinsing without raising the rated flow
  • Spot Resist Stainless is the single most useful finish choice in a hard-water house
  • Reflex docking has been in Moen's line long enough that replacement wands are easy to find

What does not

  • Reach is 7-7/8", over an inch shorter than the Leland — on a wide double bowl you will notice
  • Moen publishes no independent noise or durability measurement, and neither do we
  • The spot-resist coating is a finish, not armor; abrasive cleaners still dull it

Skip it if

Skip it if you have a wide double-bowl sink and want one faucet to reach both drains comfortably — buy reach instead of height.

2. Best valve engineering

Delta Leland 9178-AR-DST

Delta · Best for most kitchens, one or three holes

The pull-down we would fit in most kitchens, because the two parts that usually fail first on a pull-down are the two Delta engineered around: the docking mechanism and the valve. MagnaTite pulls the wand back into the spout with a magnet instead of relying on a friction collar, and Diamond Seal keeps water off the valve. It ships with a deck plate, so it covers a three-hole sink or mounts through one.

Published specifications

Flow rate
1.8 gpm source
Spout height
7-7/8" deck to outlet source
Spout reach
9-3/16" source
Overall height
14-7/8" source
Mounting
Single hole; deck plate included for three-hole sinks source
Warranty
Delta limited lifetime source
Lead compliance
Meets NSF/ANSI 61 source

What works

  • MagnaTite docking is a magnet, not a friction fit — a wand that stops seating is the most common pull-down complaint, and a magnet does not wear the way a plastic collar does
  • Spout reach of 9-3/16" clears the far side of a standard 22-inch front-to-back sink
  • Diamond Seal keeps water off the valve, which is what the lifetime warranty is really protecting
  • Deck plate in the box, so a three-hole sink needs no extra part

What does not

  • 1.8 gpm is higher than the 1.5 gpm most competitors now ship, which matters if your area caps flow rate
  • Zinc body rather than brass — normal at this price, but this is not a forever faucet
  • No independent lab publishes durability figures for this model, so we cannot tell you how the finish looks at year five

Skip it if

Skip it if your sink is a shallow bar sink: at 14-7/8" overall the arc will splash in a basin under about seven inches deep.

3. Best spec documentation

Kohler Simplice K-596

Kohler · Best for wide bowls and long reach

The value pick with the longest reach of the three mainstream pull-downs, and the only one whose third spray function is genuinely useful rather than a novelty: Boost raises flow by 30% while you hold it, then drops back to 1.5 gpm. If your sink is wide, this is the one that reaches.

Published specifications

1.5 gpm at 60 psi source
Spout reach
9" source
Sprayhead
Three function: stream, Sweep spray, Boost source
Boost
Increases flow rate by 30% while held source
Docking
DockNetik magnetic docking source
Spout rotation
360 degrees source

What works

  • 9" reach, matching the longest in this roundup
  • Boost is a real feature: 30% more flow on demand, then back to 1.5 gpm
  • Sweep spray is a blade rather than a cone, which is better at pushing debris toward a drain
  • Kohler publishes a full dimensional spec sheet, which makes hole and cabinet planning easy

What does not

  • A three-function head has more moving parts than a two-function one, which is more to go wrong
  • The gooseneck shape sets the handle further back than some people like on a shallow deck
  • No published independent test data on this model, from anyone

Skip it if

Skip it if you want the simplest possible faucet — a two-function wand is one less thing to break.

Commercial-style coil-spring kitchen faucet in stainless steel

4. Best value brand

Kraus Bolden KPF-1610

Kraus · Best for commercial look under a cabinet

A real coil-spring commercial-style faucet at a normal price, and short enough at 18 inches to fit under a standard upper cabinet — which is exactly where most commercial-style faucets fail. The spout is low at 6-3/8" and the reach moderate, so it suits a deep single bowl rather than a wide double.

Published specifications

Flow rate
1.8 gpm aerated source
Overall height
18" source
Spout height
6-3/8" source
Spout reach
8-3/4" source
Swivel
180 degrees source
Sprayer
Two function: aerated stream and spray source

What works

  • At 18 inches tall it clears most upper cabinets, unlike the 24-inch-plus commercial faucets
  • The exposed coil spring is the actual commercial mechanism, not a decorative sleeve
  • Single-hole install with pre-attached lines and a counterweight in the box
  • Kraus publishes dimensions for every finish variant, which is unusual at this price

What does not

  • Coil springs collect grease and need wiping; that is the real ownership cost of the look
  • 180-degree swivel, not 360 — plan which way the spout needs to face
  • 6-3/8" spout height is low for a tall stock pot

Skip it if

Skip it if you have an apron-front sink with a high front rim — measure before committing to a low spout.

Where warranty terms genuinely differ

Most residential kitchen faucets from the major brands carry a limited lifetime warranty on function and finish for the original owner, and Delta states its limited lifetime coverage on the Leland's product page. The variations worth reading for: whether the finish is covered for the same period as the mechanism, whether commercial installation voids it, and whether the warranty is transferable when you sell the house. Those details are in the printed warranty rather than the marketing, and they are the part that gets skimmed.

We are not going to rank the brands on reliability, because no independent laboratory publishes failure-rate data for residential kitchen faucets. Any ranking you read on that basis — including a confident one — is an impression dressed as a finding.

What to take away

  • Parts availability for discontinued models is the specification that decides repairable versus disposable.
  • Moen, Delta and Kohler all clear that bar. Kraus is the value tier with real specs and a shorter support tail.
  • Search the model number plus "cartridge" before buying. Silence is an answer.
  • No independent reliability data exists for faucet brands, so nobody can honestly rank them on failure rates.

How we sourced this page

Every figure on this page came from one of the following. Where a manufacturer or an independent lab does not publish a number, we say so rather than estimate it.

Common questions

What is the best kitchen faucet brand?
For long-term serviceability, Moen, Delta and Kohler — all three stock cartridges for discontinued models, which is what makes a faucet repairable in ten years. Choose between them on the specification that matches your sink rather than on brand reputation, because at the same price point they are equivalent in build.
Are cheap kitchen faucets worth buying?
As a consumable, sometimes — the hardware is often decent at purchase. The catch is year four, when a cartridge or spray head fails and there is no parts channel and no model number to search. If you buy a marketplace-brand faucet, budget to replace rather than repair it.
Do kitchen faucet warranties cover the finish?
Usually yes on the major brands, for the original owner, alongside the mechanism — but the terms vary and it is the part people skim. Read whether commercial installation voids the warranty and whether it transfers with the house, because both clauses appear regularly.
Which faucet brand is easiest to repair?
Moen has the strongest reputation for stocking cartridges for long-discontinued faucets, which is the practical definition of easy to repair. Delta's approach is different but equally effective in practice: keep water off the valve so it needs repair less often.
