A double bowl turns reach from a nice-to-have into the specification that decides whether half your sink is usable.

Short answer
On a double-bowl sink, buy for spout reach. Measure from the faucet hole to the center of the far bowl — usually 9 to 11 inches — and choose a faucet that reaches within an inch of it. The Moen Method 7585C is the longest in this registry at 10.2 inches, with a 68-inch pull-out hose that covers whatever the spout does not.
On a single bowl a short-reach faucet is an inconvenience. On a double bowl it is a design failure: the faucet swivels, the water still lands on the divider or against the back wall, and the second basin becomes a place to put things rather than a place to wash them.

Measure to the far bowl, not to the drain
The standard advice — measure from the faucet hole to the center of the drain — is written for single bowls. On a double sink there are two drains, and the one that matters is the far one. Measure to the center of the bowl you use less, because that is the one a short faucet abandons.
Then check the swivel. A 360-degree spout can serve both bowls if the reach is there; a 180-degree spout — common on commercial-style faucets — has to be planned around, because it will face one way. The full method is on our height and reach guide.
Why a pull-out can beat a pull-down here
A pull-down's wand drops into whichever bowl is under it. A pull-out's wand comes forward on a long hose and goes wherever you point it, including the far bowl, the counter, or a pot on the floor. On a wide double sink that hose is doing the work the spout cannot, which is why the Method — a pull-out with both the longest reach and the longest hose here — is our first pick.

Is a double bowl still the right sink?
Worth asking before you buy a faucet to work around one. A divider means nothing large lies flat — a half-sheet pan is 18 by 13 inches and each bowl of a 33-inch double sink is around 15 inches wide. If you have a dishwasher, the second bowl is mostly storage for the drying rack.
