Kitchen Faucets

The best gold and champagne bronze kitchen faucets

Four names, one warm finish, and almost no published information about how it is applied. Here is what each maker will actually commit to in writing.

By Ryder M.Last reviewed How we pick
Kitchen faucet finishes shown side by side on a counter

Disclosure: we earn a commission if you buy through the Amazon links on this page, at no extra cost to you. Commission never decides a verdict or a ranking position — read our editorial policy and affiliate disclosure.

How we assessed these: we rank finishes that each manufacturer publishes in its own catalog for the named model, read on 2026-11-01, and we say plainly where a maker does not publish how the finish is applied. No independent laboratory publishes finish-wear or corrosion testing for kitchen faucet finishes, so there is no measured durability ranking here - only the published specifications, the physics of the coating processes, and what the makers will and will not state.

Short answer

Brushed gold, brushed brass and champagne bronze are three marketing names for the same warm metallic family, and the finish you can actually buy is whichever one your chosen model lists in the maker's own catalog. Kraus publishes Brushed Brass and Antique Champagne Bronze; Delta publishes Champagne Bronze. No maker we read publishes how the finish is applied.

Warm metals have been the fastest-moving thing in kitchen fixtures for several years, and the naming has not kept up. One manufacturer's Brushed Brass is another's Brushed Gold is a third's Champagne Bronze, and a retail listing will sometimes rename the finish again. Meanwhile the question that actually decides whether you still like it in five years - is this plated, or is it a physical vapor deposition finish? - is the one question nobody answers on a product page.

So this page does two things. It names the faucets whose makers publish a warm finish as a standard catalog SKU, which is what protects you on warranty and on replacement parts. And it is explicit about what is not published, so you can ask the right question before you spend the money.

The four names, and what they mean

These are marketing names, not standards. There is no industry definition behind any of them, and no two makers' versions match exactly.

Warm finish names you will meet, and how to read them
NameWhat it usually looks likeWhere you see it
Brushed goldSatin, pale yellow, low sheenMoen and several import brands
Brushed brassSatin, warmer and slightly deeper than brushed goldKraus catalog SKU (e.g. -BB)
Champagne bronzeSatin, warm, muted toward beige-brownDelta catalog finish
Antique champagne bronzeChampagne bronze with a darker, aged castKraus catalog SKU (e.g. -SFACB)
Unlacquered / living brassBright at first, then patinas unevenly by designSpecialist and heritage brands

Finish appearance descriptions are qualitative and based on the makers' own catalog photography; the SKU suffixes are what each manufacturer publishes. There is no measured color standard behind any of these names, and no independent laboratory publishes comparative wear data for them.

PVD or plated: the question nobody answers

There are two ways to put a warm metallic layer on a faucet body, and they behave completely differently in a kitchen.

Physical vapor deposition (PVD) bonds a thin ceramic-metal layer onto the body in a vacuum chamber. The result is harder and more corrosion-resistant than plating, and it is the process most premium warm finishes use. Electroplating deposits metal from solution. It is cheaper, it is perfectly serviceable, and it is more vulnerable at a high-wear edge: once the plating is breached, whatever is underneath is exposed.

We read the manufacturer pages for every warm-finish faucet below and not one of them states which process it uses. That is not a scandal, it is simply the state of product disclosure in this category, and it is why we rank on what is published rather than on an assumed process. Our faucet finishes page goes further into how the coatings are built up, and which finish hides water spots covers the day-to-day consequence.

What warm finishes do in a real kitchen

  • They hide water spots better than polished chrome and worse than brushed nickel. A satin warm finish diffuses reflections, so a droplet is less visible than on a mirror; the pale mineral ring it leaves behind still shows against a yellow-toned surface.
  • They show fingerprints less than polished anything. Brushing is the reason, not the color.
  • They are the hardest finish to match across brands. Two makers' brushed brass side by side reads as a mistake. Within one brand family it reads as a design decision.
  • They are abrasive-intolerant. Every maker whose care guidance we read says mild soap and a soft cloth. Scouring cream on a warm finish is how you get a bright patch that will not blend back in.

In a hard-water house, the practical answer is the same as for matte black: dry the faucet after use and you remove most of the problem. Best kitchen faucets for hard water covers the rest of it, including what the water itself does to the valve.

How we picked

Three rules, applied in order.

  1. The warm finish has to be a standard catalog SKU. A finish the manufacturer lists carries the manufacturer's warranty and has replacement parts behind it. A finish applied by a third party does not.
  2. The underlying faucet has to be worth buying in any finish. A finish is not a feature. Every pick below earns its place on reach, valve, mounting and certification first.
  3. The published specifications have to come from the maker. Where a maker does not publish a figure, we say so rather than borrowing a retailer's number.

Two brands are missing as a result. Kohler publishes warm finishes across its kitchen range, and kohler.com did not respond when we tried to read the current finish list on 2026-11-01. Moen's product pages were intermittently unreachable the same day. Rather than quote finish availability we could not confirm at the source, we left both out - this page will get them when their pages answer.

1. Best brushed brass overall

Kraus Bolden KPF-1610

Kraus · Best for commercial look under a cabinet

A real coil-spring commercial-style faucet at a normal price, and short enough at 18 inches to fit under a standard upper cabinet — which is exactly where most commercial-style faucets fail. The spout is low at 6-3/8" and the reach moderate, so it suits a deep single bowl rather than a wide double.

Published specifications

Overall height
18" source
Spout height
6-3/8" source
Spout reach
8-3/4" source
Swivel
180 degrees source

Two function: aerated stream and spray source

What works

  • At 18 inches tall it clears most upper cabinets, unlike the 24-inch-plus commercial faucets
  • The exposed coil spring is the actual commercial mechanism, not a decorative sleeve
  • Single-hole install with pre-attached lines and a counterweight in the box
  • Kraus publishes dimensions for every finish variant, which is unusual at this price

What does not

  • Coil springs collect grease and need wiping; that is the real ownership cost of the look
  • 180-degree swivel, not 360 — plan which way the spout needs to face
  • 6-3/8" spout height is low for a tall stock pot

Skip it if

Skip it if you have an apron-front sink with a high front rim — measure before committing to a low spout.

Delta Leland 9178-AR-DST — product photograph

2. Best champagne bronze pull-down

Delta Leland 9178-AR-DST

Delta · Best for most kitchens, one or three holes

The pull-down we would fit in most kitchens, because the two parts that usually fail first on a pull-down are the two Delta engineered around: the docking mechanism and the valve. MagnaTite pulls the wand back into the spout with a magnet instead of relying on a friction collar, and Diamond Seal keeps water off the valve. It ships with a deck plate, so it covers a three-hole sink or mounts through one.

Supply lines
Integrated InnoFlex PEX, pre-attached at the valve source
Connection
3/8" compression source
Warranty
Delta limited lifetime source
Lead compliance
Meets NSF/ANSI 61 source

What works

  • MagnaTite docking is a magnet, not a friction fit — a wand that stops seating is the most common pull-down complaint, and a magnet does not wear the way a plastic collar does
  • Spout reach of 9-3/16" clears the far side of a standard 22-inch front-to-back sink
  • Diamond Seal keeps water off the valve, which is what the lifetime warranty is really protecting
  • Deck plate in the box, so a three-hole sink needs no extra part

What does not

  • 1.8 gpm is higher than the 1.5 gpm most competitors now ship, which matters if your area caps flow rate
  • Delta does not publish a body material for this model — the product page states NSF/ANSI 61 and 372 compliance and lined waterways, but not what the body is made of, and that is the figure that tells you how long a faucet lasts
  • No independent lab publishes durability figures for this model, so we cannot tell you how the finish looks at year five

Skip it if

Skip it if your sink is a shallow bar sink: at 14-7/8" overall the arc will splash in a basin under about seven inches deep.

3. Best warm finish for a bar sink

Delta Essa 9913-DST bar/prep faucet

Delta · Best for prep sinks, and anyone who wants the paperwork

The bar/prep faucet with the documentation to back it up: ceramic disc valve, MagnaTite magnetic docking, NSF/ANSI 61 and 372 certification and a lifetime limited warranty, all published by Delta on the model's own page. It is also the one that offers Champagne Bronze if the bar is where you want a warm finish without re-doing the main sink.

Warranty
Delta lifetime limited warranty source
Finishes published
Arctic Stainless, Champagne Bronze, Chrome, Matte Black, Venetian Bronze source

What works

  • MagnaTite docking is a magnet rather than a friction collar — the part that usually fails on a small pull-down is the part Delta engineered around
  • Ceramic disc valve and NSF/ANSI 61 and 372 certification are both published, which is more than most bar faucets state
  • 1 or 3-hole mounting at 8" centers covers both a new single-hole bar deck and an older three-hole one
  • Champagne Bronze is a catalog finish, not a special order, so the warm-finish version carries the same warranty

What does not

  • Delta publishes a 20" hose length but no spout reach figure for this model, so the one number that tells you whether the wand clears the far side of the bowl is missing
  • 1.8 gpm is above the 1.5 gpm the Moen bar faucets rate, which matters if your jurisdiction caps flow
  • Delta does not publish a body material for this model, only the valve and the certifications
  • 14-1/2" overall is tall for a bar sink — the same splash caveat as any high-arc small-sink faucet

Skip it if

Skip it if you need a published reach number to plan around — Delta does not give one here, and on a narrow bar bowl that is the figure that matters most.

4. Best warm finish on a budget

Kraus Oletto KPF-2822 bar faucet

Kraus · Best for shallow basins and low clearance

The bar faucet for a shallow basin, and the only one of the three whose body material Kraus actually publishes: lead-free solid brass with a brass waterway. At 12 inches overall and 8 inches of spout height it fits under a low cabinet or a window, and the tradeoff is honest — one spray function, no wand, nothing to dock.

Warranty
Kraus limited lifetime warranty source

What works

  • Lead-free solid brass body with a brass waterway, published as such — most faucets at this bracket publish no body material at all
  • 8" spout height and 12" overall is genuinely low-clearance: it fits under a window sill or a wall cabinet a pull-down bar faucet would hit
  • Published reach of 6-1/2" is within a quarter inch of the Moen bar faucet despite being half the height
  • Brushed Brass and Spot Free Antique Champagne Bronze are catalog finishes, so a warm bar faucet does not mean a boutique purchase

What does not

  • One spray function and no pull-down wand — you cannot aim water at the sides of the bowl, which is the main reason to want a wand at a prep sink
  • Single hole only, so a three-hole bar deck needs a separate deck plate that is not in the box
  • 1.8 gpm, the highest of the three, from the smallest faucet
  • Kraus publishes the cycle test for the cartridge but no durability or finish-wear data for the faucet as a whole, and no independent lab publishes one

Skip it if

Skip it if the bar sink is where you wash dishes. Without a wand you will be rinsing around the bowl by hand, and a pull-down bar faucet solves exactly that.

Matching the faucet to the rest of the kitchen

Warm finishes are the least forgiving ones to coordinate, and there are only two approaches that work.

Match within one brand. Buy the faucet, the soap dispenser and the air switch from the same maker in the same published finish name. Sheens differ measurably between manufacturers, and a near-match at 18 inches apart is more noticeable than a deliberate contrast.

Or contrast on purpose. A brushed brass faucet over a stainless sink, or against matte black cabinet hardware, reads as intentional. The failure mode is always the almost-match, not the clash. If your sink is stainless, the best stainless steel kitchen sinks is the pairing page; if you are shopping both at once, how to choose a kitchen faucet sequences the decisions.

If the bar sink is where you want the warm finish

This is the single best place to try a warm metal, and it is why two of the four picks here are bar faucets. A bar or prep sink is a small, visually separate zone, usually in a different cabinet run from the main sink, so a brushed brass faucet there does not have to coordinate with anything else. It also costs less to change your mind about. The full ranking of those models, on fit rather than finish, is in the best bar sink faucets, and bar faucet vs kitchen faucet explains why you should not just buy the small one for the main sink.

What to take away

  • Brushed gold, brushed brass and champagne bronze are brand names for one finish family, with no standard behind them.
  • Buy a finish the manufacturer lists as its own SKU - that is what carries warranty and parts.
  • No maker we read publishes whether the warm finish is PVD or plated. Ask before you buy at the top of the market.
  • Mild soap and a soft cloth only. Abrasives leave a bright patch that cannot be blended back.
  • Match within one brand or contrast deliberately. The almost-match is the only real mistake.

Common questions

Are gold kitchen faucets still in style?
Warm metals have been a mainstream catalog option across Delta, Kraus, Moen and Kohler for several years rather than a single-season finish, and every maker we read lists at least one as a standard SKU. That is the only durable signal available - nobody publishes finish-level sales data, so anyone who tells you a precise trend figure is guessing.
What is the difference between brushed gold and champagne bronze?
Mostly the brand that is selling it. Both are satin warm metallic finishes; champagne bronze is typically muted slightly further toward beige-brown, brushed gold slightly more yellow. There is no color standard behind either name, so compare the makers' own photography and, where you can, a physical sample.
Do gold faucets show water spots?
Less than polished chrome, more than brushed nickel. The brushed texture diffuses the reflection so the water itself is harder to see, but dried limescale is pale and still shows against a warm tone. Drying the faucet after use removes most of it.
Will a brass faucet tarnish?
A lacquered or PVD warm finish is designed not to. Unlacquered or living brass is designed to patina, and that is a feature of that specific product category rather than a defect. The faucets on this page are all fixed-finish models, not living brass.
How do you clean a brushed brass or champagne bronze faucet?
Mild soap, a soft cloth, rinse and dry. No abrasive creams, no scouring pads, no bleach, and do not leave vinegar sitting on it. Acids and abrasives both damage coated finishes, and a bright worn patch on a warm finish cannot be blended back in.
Is a gold faucet more expensive than the chrome version?
Usually yes, within the same model. Warm finishes are a separate SKU and typically sit above chrome and stainless in the same collection, which is why the buy buttons here read the current price for the listing rather than quoting a figure we typed in.
