Kitchen Faucets
The best brushed nickel kitchen faucets
Brushed nickel is the finish that hides water spots and fingerprints — and the one where no two manufacturers use the same name for it.

Disclosure: we earn a commission if you buy through the Amazon links on this page, at no extra cost to you. Commission never decides a verdict or a ranking position — read our editorial policy and affiliate disclosure.
How we assessed these: we compared published manufacturer specifications for the named model numbers, read from each maker's own product page or specification sheet and linked at every figure. We have not tested these faucets and we do not own them. No independent laboratory publishes failure rates or finish-wear testing for residential kitchen faucets, so where a claim would need that data, this page says so instead of making one.
Short answer
The Moen Arbor 7594 in Spot Resist Stainless is the brushed-nickel faucet to buy for most kitchens: a 1.5 gpm high-arc pull-down with a 8-1/4 inch spout, a deck plate in the box for one or three holes, and the finish Moen engineered specifically to resist water spots and fingerprints. The harder part of buying brushed nickel is not choosing the faucet — it is that each brand trademarks its own name for the finish and sells it as a separate model number.
Brushed nickel is the most-bought kitchen faucet finish in the US, and for a practical reason rather than a fashionable one: the brushed texture scatters light, so water spots, limescale film and fingerprints all disappear into the grain instead of sitting on a mirror. It is the low-maintenance choice, and in a hard-water house that is not a small thing.

The name trap, and how to get around it
There is no industry standard called "brushed nickel". What there is, is a family of warm-gray brushed finishes, each with a trademarked name and a model-number suffix of its own. The faucet body is identical; the finish is a different SKU.
| Brand | Finish name you will see | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Moen | Spot Resist Stainless | A brushed warm-gray finish Moen states is engineered to resist fingerprints and water spots |
| Moen | Brushed Nickel | Moen's other brushed option, a warmer tone, sold under a different suffix |
| Delta | Arctic Stainless | The brushed finish on the 9178-AR-DST — the AR in the model number |
| Delta | SpotShield Stainless | Delta's spot-resisting variant, again a separate suffix |
| Kohler | Vibrant Stainless | Kohler's brushed physical-vapor-deposition finish |
| Kraus | Spot Free Stainless Steel | Kraus's brushed option on the Bolden and others |
Finish names are read from each maker's own product page for the models on this page, listed in the sources below. We did not verify every finish suffix individually and do not claim each model is available in every finish named here — confirm the exact suffix on the maker's page for the model you are ordering. No two of these are the same shade, which is why mixing brands beside one sink looks wrong.
Why brushed hides what chrome shows
A water spot is not water. It is the dissolved mineral a droplet leaves behind when it evaporates, and the harder your water, the more of it there is. On polished chrome — a mirror — that deposit interrupts a perfect reflection, so it is visible from across the room. On a brushed surface the reflection is already broken up into thousands of fine lines, and the deposit has nothing to interrupt.
The same geometry handles fingerprints, which are oil rather than mineral. Moen's argument for Spot Resist is precisely this, and the registry entry for the Arbor records it as the most useful finish choice in a hard-water house. If that is your situation, best kitchen faucets for hard water is the fuller shortlist and which finish hides water spots ranks every option.
What brushed nickel is not good at
Two honest limits. First, brushed finishes are applied coatings on most faucets at normal prices, and a coating can wear through at a high-contact point over many years; polished chrome is plated metal and is the most abrasion-resistant finish sold. Second, a brushed surface holds a scrub mark — clean it along the grain with mild soap, never across it and never with a cream cleanser.
No independent laboratory publishes finish-wear testing for residential faucets, so we cannot tell you how either finish looks at year ten, and nobody honestly can. What is checkable is the warranty: Delta, Moen, Kohler and Kraus all publish a limited lifetime warranty covering finish as well as function on the models here. Faucets with a lifetime warranty collects the ones that do.

1. Best overall
Moen Arbor 7594
Moen · Best for deep pots and hard-water kitchens
The pull-down to buy if you want the taller arc and a finish that hides water spots. Its 8-1/4" spout height is about half an inch more clearance than the Leland, which is the difference between washing a stock pot and fighting one. The tradeoff is reach: 7-7/8" against 9-3/16", so it works closer to the back of the bowl.
Published specifications
What works
- The 8-1/4" spout height is genuine pot clearance, not decorative arc
- Power Boost concentrates the stream for filling and rinsing without raising the rated flow
- Spot Resist Stainless is the single most useful finish choice in a hard-water house
- Reflex docking has been in Moen's line long enough that replacement wands are easy to find
What does not
- Reach is 7-7/8", over an inch shorter than the Leland — on a wide double bowl you will notice
- Moen publishes no independent noise or durability measurement, and neither do we
- The spot-resist coating is a finish, not armor; abrasive cleaners still dull it
Skip it if
Skip it if you have a wide double-bowl sink and want one faucet to reach both drains comfortably — buy reach instead of height.

2. Best brushed with a lifetime valve
Delta Leland 9178-AR-DST
Delta · Best for most kitchens, one or three holes
The pull-down we would fit in most kitchens, because the two parts that usually fail first on a pull-down are the two Delta engineered around: the docking mechanism and the valve. MagnaTite pulls the wand back into the spout with a magnet instead of relying on a friction collar, and Diamond Seal keeps water off the valve. It ships with a deck plate, so it covers a three-hole sink or mounts through one.
Published specifications
- Flow rate
- 1.8 gpm source
- Spout height
- 7-7/8" deck to outlet source
- Spout reach
- 9-3/16" source
- Overall height
- 14-7/8" source
- Mounting
- Single hole; deck plate included for three-hole sinks source
- Supply lines
- Integrated InnoFlex PEX, pre-attached at the valve source
- Connection
- 3/8" compression source
- Warranty
- Delta limited lifetime source
- Lead compliance
- Meets NSF/ANSI 61 source
What works
- MagnaTite docking is a magnet, not a friction fit — a wand that stops seating is the most common pull-down complaint, and a magnet does not wear the way a plastic collar does
- Spout reach of 9-3/16" clears the far side of a standard 22-inch front-to-back sink
- Diamond Seal keeps water off the valve, which is what the lifetime warranty is really protecting
- Deck plate in the box, so a three-hole sink needs no extra part
What does not
- 1.8 gpm is higher than the 1.5 gpm most competitors now ship, which matters if your area caps flow rate
- Zinc body rather than brass — normal at this price, but this is not a forever faucet
- No independent lab publishes durability figures for this model, so we cannot tell you how the finish looks at year five
Skip it if
Skip it if your sink is a shallow bar sink: at 14-7/8" overall the arc will splash in a basin under about seven inches deep.

3. Best on a budget
WEWE A1001L
WEWE · Best for rentals and tight budgets
The budget pick, named with the caveat that belongs on every budget pick: it is 304 stainless with a ceramic cartridge the maker rates at 500,000 cycles, and it is a faucet you will replace rather than repair, because the parts channel behind it is nothing like Moen's or Delta's. On those terms it is a lot of faucet for the money.
Published specifications
What works
- 304 stainless rather than plated zinc at a price where plated zinc is the norm
- A ceramic disc cartridge, which is the valve type that lasts — the same principle as faucets costing four times more
- The pause function is genuinely useful on a pull-down and is often missing at this price
- Light enough that a one-person installation is straightforward
What does not
- The parts channel is the weak point: plan to replace rather than repair in year four
- No published spout height or reach, so check the listing dimensions against your sink before ordering
- 1.8 gpm, and no boost function to make better use of it
Skip it if
Skip it if this is your forever kitchen. Buy a faucet whose cartridge you can still order in ten years — that is the whole argument for the major brands.

4. Best brushed pull-out
Moen Sombra 87701SRS
Moen · Best for pull-out range plus a matching dispenser
The pull-out we would fit, and the one that quietly solves a second problem: it ships with a matching soap dispenser, so a three-hole sink converting to a single-hole faucet has something to put in the spare hole that was designed alongside it. A 59-inch hose and a 9.93-inch spout give it genuine range.
Published specifications
What works
- A 59-inch hose reaches a bucket on the floor, which is the whole reason to choose pull-out over pull-down
- The soap dispenser is matched and included rather than an approximate-finish afterthought
- One-to-four-hole mounting covers essentially every sink drilling
- Spot Resist Stainless is the finish to have in hard water
What does not
- 8.45 inches of reach is mid-range — a wide double bowl will want more
- Moen does not publish a warranty term on this product page, so we do not state one
- Pull-out wands sit lower, so a tall stock pot is a tighter fit than under a high-arc pull-down
Skip it if
Skip it if your sink is deep and you mostly wash tall cookware — a high-arc pull-down gives you clearance this does not.

Matching brushed nickel to a stainless sink
They do not need to match, and in most American kitchens they do not. A brushed faucet over a brushed stainless sink reads as a set even when the tones differ slightly, because both surfaces scatter light the same way. What looks like a mistake is two different brands' brushed finishes within a few inches of each other — a faucet and a matching soap dispenser, say, bought separately.
That is the real argument for buying the dispenser from the faucet's own line. The Moen Sombra 87701SRS pull-out here publishes a matching dispenser in the same Spot Resist Stainless, which is the only reliable way to get an exact match. Faucets with a soap dispenser covers that pairing, and faucet finishes explains how each one is applied.
Which one to buy
- Buy the Moen Arbor 7594 in Spot Resist Stainless if you want the default right answer: high arc, 1.5 gpm, deck plate included, the finish built for hard water.
- Buy the Delta Leland 9178-AR-DST if reach matters more than height — 9-3/16 inches against the Arbor's 7-7/8 — and you want MagnaTite magnetic docking.
- Buy the WEWE A1001L if this is a rental or a budget job; it is brushed nickel over 304 stainless in a single hole.
- Buy the Moen Sombra 87701SRS if you want a pull-out rather than a pull-down, or you want the matching dispenser to be certain.
What to take away
- Brushed nickel hides water spots and fingerprints because its surface has no mirror to interrupt.
- There is no standard name — Spot Resist Stainless, Arctic Stainless, Vibrant Stainless and Brushed Nickel are all different SKUs.
- Order by full model number with the finish suffix, from the maker's own page, not by the retailer's color word.
- Chrome is the more abrasion-resistant finish; brushed is the lower-maintenance one.
- Clean along the grain with mild soap only. Never a cream cleanser, never across the brush lines.
- Buy a matching soap dispenser from the faucet's own line, or accept that it will not match exactly.

Common questions
- Is brushed nickel still in style for kitchen faucets?
- It is the volume finish in the US kitchen market and has been for years, which is the practical answer: it is the one every brand stocks in every model, so parts and matching accessories are easiest to find. It also hides water spots, which is why it keeps selling regardless of fashion.
- Is brushed nickel the same as stainless steel or satin nickel?
- Not quite. Brushed nickel is a nickel-toned finish with a brushed texture, usually slightly warmer than stainless. Satin nickel is the same family with a softer sheen. "Stainless" on a faucet usually means a brushed finish that mimics a stainless sink rather than solid stainless construction. The tones differ enough to notice side by side.
- Does brushed nickel show water spots?
- Far less than chrome. The brushed texture breaks up the reflection, so mineral deposits have no mirror to spoil. In very hard water you will still see a dull film eventually, and drying the spout after use removes most of it.
- How do you clean a brushed nickel faucet?
- Mild soap, warm water, a soft cloth, wiped along the direction of the brush lines. No cream cleansers, no scouring pads, no bleach, and do not leave vinegar sitting on it. A brushed coating holds a scrub mark across the grain permanently.
